Fueled by social media trends, a new consumer behaviour is disrupting the dining scene. Individuals are increasingly choosing to go to different restaurants for every course. Instead of traditionally feeling "compelled" to eat the entire meal at one place. RESTAURANT HOPPING is now the new trend to search for the best meals at the best place. Today's eaters are searching for new & fun experiences while prioritising health & quality. I decided to hop on this trend while trying some restaurants in South Africa. The first restaurant experience I would like to blog about is - MARBLE.

Marble is a celebration of quintessential South African fare & cooking on fire Marble embodies South Africans' love of cooking with fire, a quality that makes our food culture different from the rest of the world - David Higgs

Marble is a restaurant based in Keyes Art Mile, Johannesburg, South Africa. The concept of their cooking styles & techniques combine the open-fire trend which can be seen in international restaurants, but most importantly, the South African flair is predominant.

The variety of food on the menu varies from fish, poultry, vegetables & breads. The overall dining experience was phenomenal especially due to the balcony view of the city.

I ordered - The Rib-Eye. The meat was wood-fired to perfection with tomato & rosemary salsa that was to die for! The potato crisps as a side were suited well for dipping into that tasteful salsa! I am not a big fan of bone marrow, however, the smoked bone marrow definitely added some depth into this dish which I felt brought the whole "wood-fire-smokey" vibe into perspective. Overall, this dish was something that I highly recommend & it is a dish that I am definitely going to order as soon as I am back in South Africa.

Below is a link that directs you to MARBLE'S online website where you may find the restaurant's online menu as well as their story.

David Higgs showcases his "mile8" cook book which holds over 90 dishes & 150 recipes which can be ordered online. He describes his book as a "culinary adventure bringing together the unique & interesting flavours of Southern Africa". Individuals may also purchase gift cards online for the perfect dining.
